I was lucky enough to cover the Arizona State University Sun Devils Men’s basketball game this past Saturday and was very excited to do so. I was nervous because I haven’t shot at Wells Fargo Arena on the ASU campus before so I didn’t know about shooting positions, lighting, where the media room is, where to park, where the bathrooms are or any of the numberous details that someone needs to know to cover an event at this level.
I was a bit disappointed in the shots I got, not many peak action shots and I just didn’t seem to find the flow. I think because I have never shot the ASU team before I was unfamiliar with the Sun Devils playing style, well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I managed to get a few player shots, but mostly I struggled through the game and miss some shots I wanted to get. I hope to do better next time.
