How about some more football, but this time with a flash

Shooting football with available light or ambient light is a challenge as far as capturing the action, telling the story of the game through your images and being able to get good faces and action in your shots. Add the complexity of having to shoot with a flash and the learning curve is another challenge added to the mix. I have been trying to get some experience shooting high school football with a flash and it has taken me a few tries to get comfortable with shooting this way.

Flashed football images look totally different from ambient football, and the shooting technique is somewhat different. I have gotten a few shots I like and lots of shots that I just don’t like or where my timing was off, it’s good practice so I will keep at it.
