NASCAR images for your viewing pleasure

Everyone is deep into basketball and baseball this time of year so I thought I would post some Motorsports images for my viewers. I’m sure putting “for your pleasure” in the title will get me a few views, but maybe people who use the search phrase “for your pleasure” aren’t exactly my target demographic.

I enjoy shooting Motorsports and would like to shoot more. I enjoy a number of different types of Motorsports events and I am constantly trying to improve my shooting skills so here are a few shots for you to check out and comment on.

NASCAR: APR 09 SUBWAY Fresh Fit 600 Sprint Cup Series Race

Here is a nice shot from 2010 of Brian Vickers siting in his car during practice for the SUBWAY Fresh Fit 600 Sprint Cup Series Race at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale Arizona.

NASCAR: NOV 14 Sprint Cup Series - Kobalt Tools 500

Another shot from 2010 of Jeff Gordon (24) at speed in the Kobalt Tools 500 race on Nov 14, 2010 at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ.

NASCAR: NOV 14 Sprint Cup Series - Kobalt Tools 500

Someone once told me pit-stop shots always sell, so how about this one of Denny Hamlin (11) getting right-side tires and fuel during the Kobalt Tools 500 race on Nov 14, 2010 at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ.

NASCAR: FEB 25 Sprint Cup Series - SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500

This is a nice 2011 shot of Dale Jr. during Sprint Cup practice.

NASCAR: NOV 14 Sprint Cup Series - SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500

When this shot was first submitted it was rejected for limited commercial value, meaning image buyers would find little use in an image of blurred cars heading into turn one at Phoenix International Raceway. I have to say the image reviewer was oh so wrong, this is one of my best-selling images.

NASCAR: FEB 26 Nationwide Series - Bashas' Supermarkets 200

I don’t know, I understand how image buyers might not find a lot of uses for an image like this one of fresh tires waiting for Joey Logano behind the pit wall during the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 Nationwide Series Race at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale Arizona.

NASCAR: NOV 14 Sprint Cup Series - SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500

That is a massive amount of little droplets of sugary liquid flying around in this victory lane shot of Carl Edwards from 2010.

NASCAR: NOV 14 Sprint Cup Series - SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500

Something about the depth and perspective of this 2010 shot of Clint Bowyer taking on fresh right-side tires and fuel just works for me.

NASCAR: FEB 25 Sprint Cup Series - SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500

Another 2011 shot of Dale Jr.’s car trailing fire in the middle of turn 3 and 4 at Phoenix International Raceway.

NASCAR: NOV 14 Sprint Cup Series - Kobalt Tools 500

I liked the way the afternoon light was landing on Jeff Gordon’s car in this shot.

NASCAR: FEB 25 Nationwide Series - Bashas' Supermarkets 200

Panning shots can be tough to pull off, but if done well a nice panning shot is worth the effort. Here is a 2011 Nationwide Series of Danica Patrick (7) taking practices laps for the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 race on Feb. 25, 2011 at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ.

NASCAR: FEB 25 Nationwide Series - Bashas' Supermarkets 200

I’ve seen some great panning shots of cars between trees or grandstands or other foreground objects so with the Camping World Trucks on pit road and the Nationwide cars out on track for practice I tried to make this work. I’m not convinced it was successful. Here Brad Keselowski (22) takes practices laps for the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 race on Feb. 25, 2011 at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ.

Maybe I should just stick with standard panning shots, like this one of Brad Keselowski in his Nationwide car.
