It’s college football season and around here there are a bunch of new names and faces to contend with. Arizona State has new uniforms and a new starting quarterback, as well as a bunch of new and returning students.
Let’s bring the Head Coach Dennis Erickson and the rest of the players out onto the field.
They always pump this fog machine up so the players can come running out of the tunnel and the fog, the problem is the fog lingers at ground level for almost the entire first half of the game and makes getting decent images somewhat difficult.

Arizona State Sun Devils Brock Osweiler (17) is the new full-time starting quarterback. He started several games last year and proved to be a useful, and smart asset for the ASU team.
Arizona State Sun Devils starting QB Brock Osweiler (17) looks happy and relaxed during the fourth quarter of the UC Davis game even though he left the game with cramps.
Lots of new fans in the student section as Sparky, the Arizona State Sun Devils mascot pumps up the crowd.
It was really hot and temps on the field were sweltering so Sparky would spray the fans with these giant squirt guns, except for the cameras, I could have used a bit of cooling off during this game. I was hot, hot, hot down on the field and the air just wasn’t moving at all.
UC Davis Aggies QB Randy Wright (17) drops back to pass. I know UC Davis had to pay a reasonable chunk of change for the privilege of getting pounded by the Sun Devils, let’s just hope all that TV time and quality playing will be enough reward for their efforts.
Arizona State Sun Devils Will Sutton (90) is really excited about the new uniforms and the start of a new season.
Arizona State Sun Devils WR Mike Willie (1) is happy to be on a great team with great support and the chance to play here in Tempe Arizona.
Arizona State Sun Devils Jordan McDonald (49) sits on the sidelines dealing with the heat must have been a challenge for these guys, I was dripping with sweat and all I was doing was taking pictures.
I always love a good smiling cheerleader shot, so I try to grab a few frames of the Arizona State Sun Devils spirit squad.
I’m also always looking for good reflections-in-the-glasses shots so when I saw these two guys in the stands I couldn’t help but try to get a few good shots.
There didn’t seem to be a lot of UC Davis fans in the stands to support their Aggies, but the team played with skill and managed to pull off a few good drives in the game.
Arizona State Sun Devils Jamal Miles (32) check’s his hair on the sidelines. I wonder if these guys know images of them are out there on the wires. I also wonder if there is any value to capturing these type of images, oh well, I guess if they never get picked up then I’ll stop getting these type of shots.
Did I mention just how excited Arizona State Sun Devils Will Sutton (90) was to be playing in the first game of the season?
I think towards the end of the game when ASU was ahead by 30 some odd points some of the guys that might not get as much playing time as others got a chance to get out there and try a few things, like Arizona State Sun Devils R.J. Robinson (35) as he carries the ball out of the backfield.
Did I mention the happy, smiling cheerleaders of the Arizona State University Sun Devils Spirit Squad?
Arizona State Sun Devils Brock Osweiler (17) left the game with cramps in the fourth quarter and I can see why, it was hot out there.
With the starting quarterback out of the game, it gave Arizona State Sun Devils QB Mike Bercovici (2) a chance to get some playing time.
A few player’s had very good games, like Arizona State Sun Devils Kyle Middlebrooks (7) who moved the ball well all night.
I’ll end the show with a nice artistic motion-blur shot of an Arizona State Sun Devils Spirit Squad dancer spinning for the fans.
