NCAA College Football — September 8, 2012 Illinois at Arizona State

I haven’t posted any college football this season and I’m not sure why, so I thought I would show you some stuff from a few of the games I covered. I’ll start this with the September 8th, 2012 game between Illinois and ASU.

When one of the coaching staff holds up a sign that says “Nasty” you know this is going to be fun to watch.

08 September 2012: Sparky, the Arizona State Sun Devils and fans show their spirit prior to the start of a contest against the University of Illinois Fighting Illini at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly kept the ball for big yardage gains during the game so it was easy to get shots of him with the ball.

Here Taylor Kelly stretches for extra yardage.

08 September 2012: Arizona State Sun Devils QB Michael Eubank (18) under pressure from the University of Illinois DL Michael Buchanan (99) during a contest against the Fighting Illini at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

I wanted to shoot some wide stuff at this game and the sky before the game seemed like it was lending a helping hand.

When the visiting team, the Fighting Illini from Illinois took the field it seemed like there were a few interesting images to be made there so I grabbed a few frames. By the way, I love, love, love the plastic orange chains! How bad ass can you be with plastic chains?

08 September 2012: University of Illinois QB Reilly O’Toole (4) drops back to pass the during a contest against the Arizona State Sun Devils at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

How funny would it be if Reilly O’Toole kept the plastic chains around his neck for the first half of the game? That would have made some really cool images.

08 September 2012: University of Illinois QB Miles Osei (8) carries the ball during a contest against the Arizona State Sun Devils at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

Reilly O’Toole was getting heavily abused and had to sit out a few plays so Illinois put in Miles Osei for his turn at being abused.

ASUs Taylor Kelly looked calm and like he was having a good game.

08 September 2012: University of Illinois RB Josh Ferguson (6) carries the ball during a contest against the Arizona State Sun Devils at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

College football isn’t very popular on my photo blog so maybe if I add another pre-game warm up sky to the mix it will help.

08 September 2012: Arizona State Sun Devils QB Michael Eubank (18) runs the ball during a contest against the Fighting Illini at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

ASU kept pulling Taylor Kelly and putting in Michael Eubank for short yardage situations, it seemed to work for this game but as the season progressed and ASU played better teams this method didn’t seem to pan out for ASU.

08 September 2012: Arizona State Sun Devils WR Jamal Miles (32) carries the ball during a contest against the University of Illinois Fighting Illini at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.

08 September 2012: Arizona State Sun Devils Head Coach Todd Graham talks to Head Linesman Mark Duddy during a contest against the Fighting Illini at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The Sun Devils defeated the Fighting Illini 45 to 14.
